FunCam — Camera Effects & Challenges

Last updated

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Diwesta (“Diwesta”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles when you use the FunCam mobile app (the “App”), why we handle it, and what control you have over it. It applies to the App on both iOS and Android.

By using the App you confirm that you have read this policy. It forms part of our Terms of Use.

What We Do Not Collect

The App is built to keep your images on your device. Specifically:

  • We do not upload your photos, videos or camera frames to our servers. We never see them.
  • We do not use facial recognition to identify you, and we do not build or store face templates or other biometric records.
  • The App has no account or sign-in, so we do not hold your name, email address, phone number, postal address or contacts.
  • We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • We never receive your full payment card details.

Camera, Microphone and Photos

Camera. The App asks for camera access so you can use its effects, filters and challenges. Camera frames are processed on your device to render effects and are not transmitted to us.

Face detection. Many effects need to know where a face sits in the camera frame so that graphics land in the right place. This detection runs entirely on your device, using the vision tools built into iOS and Android. It works out position and outline only. It does not identify who you are, it does not create a face template or any other biometric record, it is not matched against any database, and none of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else. When you close the camera, it is gone.

Microphone. If you record video with sound, the App asks for microphone access. Audio is captured into the recording on your device and is not sent to us.

Photo library. The App asks for photo access only when you save something you have made, or open something you want to edit. Your library stays yours; we do not browse or copy it.

All of these permissions are optional. You can refuse or withdraw any of them in your device settings, though the features that depend on them will stop working.

Technical and Usage Information

We and our service providers automatically receive some information about how the App runs and how it is used:

  • which screens and features you open, and how often;
  • device model, operating system, App version, language and region settings;
  • IP address, and the approximate area (typically city or country level) it suggests;
  • advertising and app-instance identifiers assigned by your device or by our providers;
  • crash reports, error logs and performance measurements; and
  • your subscription and premium entitlement status.

We use this to keep the App working, find and fix faults, understand which features people actually use, measure advertising, and detect fraud or abuse.

Notifications, Configuration and Feedback

Push notifications. If you allow them, we can send notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging. This uses a device token that identifies your installation but not you personally. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings, and doing so does not affect anything else in the App.

Remote configuration. We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust App content, effects and settings without shipping a new version. It reads basic device and App attributes to decide what to deliver; it does not read your photos, videos or camera.

Feedback. If you send us feedback from inside the App, we receive the text you write, along with basic technical details about your device and App version so we can reproduce any problem. Please leave out anything sensitive you would not want us to see.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple or Google, depending on where you got the App. They handle the payment; we receive confirmation that a purchase happened, not your card details.

We use RevenueCat to keep track of which subscription you hold, to restore purchases across your devices, and to unlock premium features. RevenueCat processes an app-specific identifier along with purchase and subscription information.

Advertising

The free version of the App shows advertising, served through Google AdMob. AdMob also uses mediation, which means an ad may be filled by another advertising network. Depending on configuration and availability, those networks may include AppLovin, Pangle, InMobi and Mintegral.

Advertising providers may process device identifiers, IP address, approximate area, and how you interact with ads, in order to deliver ads, avoid repeating the same ad, measure performance, detect fraudulent activity, and — where you have allowed it — personalise what you see.

On iOS, the App asks through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before any data is used to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Declining does not remove ads; it makes them less personalised. You can change your answer later under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalisation, in your device settings.

Where the law requires consent for personalised advertising — including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom — we ask for it before serving personalised ads, and you can withdraw it at any time.

A paid subscription removes advertising from the App.

Service Providers

We rely on a small number of third-party services. Each processes information under its own privacy policy:

  • Google Firebase — app infrastructure, crash reporting, remote configuration and push notifications;
  • Google Analytics for Firebase — usage analytics;
  • Google AdMob — advertising;
  • RevenueCat — subscription management;
  • AppsFlyer — install attribution and advertising measurement; and
  • AppLovin, Pangle, InMobi, Mintegral — advertising networks reached through AdMob mediation.

Their policies: Google, Firebase, RevenueCat, AppsFlyer, AppLovin, Pangle, InMobi, Mintegral.

How Information Is Shared

We share information only in these situations:

  • with the service providers listed above, so they can perform the functions we use them for;
  • when you choose to share something yourself, for example through your device's share sheet;
  • when the law, a court, or a valid official request requires it;
  • where it is necessary to protect users, the public, or the App from fraud, abuse or security threats; and
  • if the App is sold or transferred to another developer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell your photos, videos or audio recordings, and we do not share them with advertisers — we do not have them in the first place. Some privacy laws treat certain advertising and analytics disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing”; where that applies to you, the controls described below are how you opt out.

Retention

Anything you create with the App — photos, videos, favourites — stays on your device. You can delete it from within the App or from your photo library, and removing the App removes the data it stored locally. Device backups and cloud photo syncing are outside our control and follow your own settings.

Analytics, advertising, diagnostic and subscription information is kept by our service providers under their own retention schedules, and by us only for as long as it serves the purposes described here.

Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we handle. Keeping your images on your device rather than on our servers is itself a deliberate part of that. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for valid consent to data processing, that higher age applies instead.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to contact@diwesta.com and we will delete it.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy of it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of targeted advertising. To exercise any of these, write to contact@diwesta.com.

You can also act directly, without contacting us:

  • change camera, microphone, photo, notification and tracking permissions in your device settings;
  • reset or delete your advertising identifier, or turn off ad personalisation;
  • delete your creations from the App and from your photo library; and
  • manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple or Google account.

We may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

International Transfers

Diwesta operates from Vietnam, and our service providers may process information in other countries whose data protection laws differ from those where you live. Where the law requires it, appropriate safeguards are applied to those transfers.

Some of the advertising networks reached through mediation are based in, or transfer data to, China — this applies in particular to Pangle and Mintegral. If you would rather avoid this, you can decline tracking, turn off ad personalisation, or subscribe to remove advertising from the App entirely.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always at diwesta.com/funcam/privacy, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. We will flag material changes in the App or by another suitable means. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
